MATHEMATICS

Chapter: Algebraic Expressions Recapitulation of the previous year's concept on Algebraic expression through a short oral test. With the experience, we took the revision on the topic’s variables, constant, terms, coefficient of the variable. Expressions, terms, factors, and coefficients, Types of Algebraic expressions, like and Unlike terms, Addition and subtraction of Algebraic expressions, Multiplication of types of Algebraic expression were taught in the class with the help of NCERT Text Exercise questions. Factorisation: Introduction - Factors of natural numbers, Factors of algebraic expressions were taught in the class with the help of NCERT Text exercise questions. What is Factorization? - Method of common factors, Factorization by regrouping terms, Factorisation using identities, Division of Algebraic Expressions, Division of a monomial by another monomial, Division of a polynomial by a monomial, Division of Algebraic Expressions Continued (Polynomial ÷ Polynomial) were discussed in the class with the help of NCERT Text Exercise questions and Extra questions.

ENGLISH

​"True inclusion is not just about diversity of faces; it's about the diversity of thoughts, perspectives, and contributions embraced with open arms." Literature: Students ventured into the lanes of literature and completed two units. 'A Visit to Cambridge' made the students realize how grateful they are to be able to move around, and they empathized with people with disabilities. They appreciated the brilliant minds of Stephen Hawking and Firdaus Kanga. This unit taught the students the value of inclusion. In 'A Short Monsoon Diary,' students analyzed the use of sensory and figurative language in prose paragraphs. Students felt the beauty of Mussoorie and Landour through Ruskin Bond's words. They were advised to use such language to make their creative writing more vibrant. Grammar: Students practiced VOICE and recapitulated the concept through a chapter-end assessment.

SOCIAL SCIENCE

HISTORY:
Chapter: Women, Caste, and Reform In the month of December, the topics discussed in class were: • Working Towards Change • Girls Begin Going to School • Women Write about Women • Caste and Social Reform • Demands for Equality and Justice • Gulamgiri • Who Could Enter Temples? • The Non-Brahman Movement After studying the chapter, students are able to discuss why so many methods of reformers focused on the women’s question, outline the history of consent, new laws that affect women’s lives, and illustrate how autobiographies, biographies, and other literature can be used to reconstruct the histories of women.

CIVICS:
Chapter: Understanding Marginalisation In the month of December, the topics discussed in class were: • What Does it Mean to be Socially Marginalised? • Who are Adivasis? • Adivasis and Stereotyping • Adivasis and Development • Minorities and Marginalisation After studying the chapter, students are able to understand the national goals like justice, liberty, equality, fraternity, etc., realize the problems faced by the marginalized groups like Adivasis, etc., create awareness about the provisions made in the constitutions for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and other backward classes, realize the condition of the minority groups in India, and understand the existence and expression of social diversity in democracy.

GEOGRAPHY:
Exploring Human Resources:

Students recently delved into the captivating realm of Human Resources, where they extensively discussed and absorbed insights into population distribution and density. A video was also shown to them. The exploration extended to understanding the various factors influencing population distribution, including Physical Factors, Economic Factors, and Socio-Cultural Factors. This comprehensive journey provided a holistic view of the dynamic interplay shaping our understanding of human resources.

PHYSICS:
"Radiance Realized: A Journey through Light and Reflection Mastery"
As the journey of light and reflection unfolded, students emerged not only with a theoretical understanding but also with practical skills and a heightened awareness of the enchanting interplay between light and surfaces. From mastering the laws of reflection to creating kaleidoscopic wonders, their learning experience was both comprehensive and illuminating. Armed with this newfound knowledge, the next time they gaze into a mirror or revel in the kaleidoscopic beauty of light, it will be with an enriched appreciation for the mesmerizing dance of reflections that surrounds us.

CHEMISTRY:
"Disasters are called Natural, as if nature was the executioner and not the victim"
In December, the concept of natural phenomena was taken as a part of "Chapter-15: Some Natural Phenomena" with a detailed discussion about charges present around us, transfer of charges from one body to another, detecting the charge on any charged object using a gold leaf electroscope. Introduction to lightning and its causes was done to prepare the learners for a flip class (on Lightning and earthquake) to be held in January 2024.

BIOLOGY:
In December, Chapter 8 – Age of Adolescence was introduced with the help of a class discussion on the topic, “Growing up and changing can be exciting and scary at the same time.” [English Integration]
The teacher explained the various changes that happen during puberty with the help of a PowerPoint presentation and a related video link.

Students made PowerPoint presentations on the different topics assigned to them related to the chapter. This activity enhanced students' engagement and understanding of the concepts learned.

​In the past few years, app development has become a booming industry. With the growing number of people accessing the Internet via smartphones and tablets, app development has the unique ability to access a large number of potential consumers. Students learned the different types and classification of apps. They also explored the use of common apps. During the practical class, they created the layout of a quiz app by using free web-based app development sites.

FRENCH

Our recent Annual Sports Day proved to be a resounding triumph, thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our students. Despite the festive atmosphere, we maintained our commitment to academic pursuits with a special timetable, ensuring seamless classes. In the classroom, students delved into the intricacies of prepositions, adverbs of place, and expressions of negation. Additionally, we explored the cultural corner with a focus on the press of France, introducing students to notable newspapers and magazines. Textbook exercises were conducted to reinforce the topics covered. ​

SPANISH

Students reviewed the conjugation of the verbs "ser" and "estar," as well as the impersonal form of "Haber," specifically focusing on the practical applications of these concepts. Acronyms were introduced and discussed as mnemonic devices to aid in remembering when to appropriately use the verbs "ser" and "estar." The class delved into the topic of "Estar + gerundio," gaining proficiency in expressing actions in progress using the Present Continuous tense in real-life scenarios. Utilizing visual aids, students had the opportunity to craft their own examples. Regular verb rules were revisited alongside discussions on irregular verbs. To reinforce their understanding, students engaged in practice through an interactive online game. ​

GERMAN

Students learnt prepositions in all three cases. Further, they learnt on habits and good qualities that result in success. In this context Albert Einstein, the German physicist was discussed.

INDIAN DANCE

​Cheerleading is an activity in which the participants (called cheerleaders) cheer for their team as a form of encouragement. It can range from chanting slogans to intense physical activity. It can be performed to motivate sports teams, to entertain the audience, or for competition. Cheerleading routines typically range anywhere from one to three minutes, and contain components of tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers, and stunting. DANCE FORM: Freestyle/stunts SONG: Cup of Life/Waving flag/Taki taki, Gasolina,Chak de,Chhalla, Vande matram.

WESTERN DANCE

​In their Western Dance lessons, the students learnt: 1. The combination steps of contemporary Dance: Shoulder isolations, leg kicks, leg raise, bum rolling. 2. Full body strengthening warm-up routine to keep one injury free and strong 3. Choreography was done keeping the essence of full movement intact and add the commercial elements to make the art form interesting. DANCE FORM: contemporary SONG: khoon chala from rang de basanti

INDIAN MUSIC

दिसंबर माह में छात्र छात्राओं द्वारा की गई गतिविधिया: गायन अभ्यास: शुद्ध स्वर अलंकार । राग,गीत - राम भजन राम आएंगे गीत,नानक आया शबद , लोक गीत राग , रवींद्र संगीत - मेगहेर खोले गीत । प्रयोग हुए वाद्य: तानपूरा, ऑडियो ट्रैक । गायन तकनीक: गायन के अभ्यास की बुनियादी तकनीक, प्रतियोगिता में प्रस्तुति के महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु कक्षा ६ -११ दिसंबर माह में छात्र छात्राओं द्वारा की गई गतिविधिया: चयनित छात्र छात्रों ने खेल दिवस मे उत्साहवर्धक गीत का प्रदर्शन विभिन वाद्यों (हारमोनियम , तबला ,बांगो,शेकर्स , स्क्रेपर , घुंगरू , मंजीरा एवं ढपली ) के साथ किया। वाद्य - कांगो , बोंगो, बककेट ,टेमरिंड ,कलेप बॉक्स ,कीबोर्ड ,ढोल एवं ढोलकएवं तबला का प्रारंभिक परिचय , हस्तमुद्रा (तीन ताल ) एवं भजनी ठेका । ​

WESTERN MUSIC

DRAMA

In the month of December, students learned about text and subtext in drama. The curriculum included: • Delving into the process of character development. • Emphasizing the importance of building relationships between characters. • Scene work, which allows students to put acting techniques into practice. • Encouraging students to engage emotionally with their characters and the circumstances of the scene. • Ultimately, scene work prepares students for public performance. ​

VISUAL ARTS

Students drew abstract texture landscapes and designed their own constellations. They also completed the art page in their SDG book. Art Technique: Free hand, colouring, contour outlining, Design thinking Art tools: Pencil, crayons, scale, crayons, oil pastels, pencil colours, poster colours, acrylic colours Learning Outcome: Development of imitation and observational skills. SDG 4: Quality Education Gr VIII Students created beautiful Landscape “Wheatfield in cypresses” in post impressionism style by Vincent van Gogh. They drew poster on “Save water and Air “ Composition: Poster making and composition Art Technique: Free hand, colour mixing, colouring, outlining Art tools: Pencil, crayons, scale, drawing sheet. Learning Outcome: Development of observatory and motor skills, colouring , blending fine line drawing. SDG:6 Clean water and Sanitation Gr IX Students created beautiful Post Impressionism painting using pointillism style. They drew Posters on “Save water and Air” using different thoughts Composition: Poster making Art Technique: Free hand,colour mixing, colouring, outlining Art tools: Pencil, crayons, scale, drawing sheet. Learning Outcome: Development of observatory and motor skills, colouring , blending fine line drawing. SDG:6 Clean water and Sanitation
