MATHEMATICSChapter: Linear Graph Integrated Activity: The students were asked to make their score of half yearly examination as a bar graph using excel sheet. [Integration with ICT] The chapter was introduced with the help of uniform velocity and speed. [Integrated with Physics] The coordinate points, Cartesian plane, product, quadrant, abscissa and ordinate and how to plot the points on the graph sheet were explained. NCERT questions were discussed in the class. Chapter: Exponents and Powers The chapter was introduced with the concept map of “Laws of Exponents” and the students were asked to make a project on laws of exponents. NCERT questions were discussed in the class and the scientific Notation was explained with various subject integrated questions – Atomic mass of the element, earth distance from various planets, bacteria production, cell division. Chapter: Direct and Inverse Variation Both the method of variations was explained with two different questions. Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production was given preference while solving the questions based on consumption and the students were asked to research on how to control the consumption of fossil fuel. Chapter: Visualizing 3D shapes and Playing with Numbers The students were given Diwali break assignment to make a PPT on the topic and flip classes were conducted. SCIENCEBIOLOGY "Let's look at the Life at Microscopic level" The Term II started by looking at and observing the wonderful world of cells. A Think-Pair-Share Activity was conducted by the educator to test the previous knowledge of the students about cells, its function and the level of organization of the human body. The Students were explained about the cell organelles- mitochondria, vacuoles, ribosome, Golgi-bodies, plastids and their functions with the help of a PPT. They were asked to observe the diagrams of plant and animal cell and note down the differences between the two in a Venn Diagram. [IT Integration] PHYSICS Chapter: Natural Phenomenon With the help of a PPT [including diagrams] and a hands on activity: (the students were asked to rub a pen in their hair and put near pieces of paper) the students understood the concept of creating a 'charge' by rubbing. In addition, with the help of a discussion and several observations in real life, the students understood the different types of charges and their characteristic properties. Also, with the help of a discussion and a video, they understood that charges repel each other and opposite attract each other. "Curiosity is the mother of invention"---- The learners further enquired about any other process of charging other than rubbing or conduction leading to various discussions after which, they understood the process of charging by induction (A video stimulation was also shown for this process). In this activity, they all brainstormed their minds to identify the areas where metals and non-metals are used in our daily lives. They were connected to the real life examples like school bell, utensils, wires, etc. They learnt different physical properties of metals and non-metals through a Hands on Activity. They were given different materials like chalk, aluminium foil, iron nails, copper wire, lead pencil, etc. to observe different properties of metals like malleability, ductility, hardness, density, lustre and sonority. They were asked to strike the pen on the iron nails and chalk to understand the sonority property of metals. The students also learnt the conductivity property of metals and non-metals by connecting various materials like iron nail, rubber, pencil lead, aluminium foil with copper wires, bulb and battery. They researched on the locations of the deposits of iron, aluminium and zinc in India and marked these location on an outline map of India. [IT Integration] ICT Python is easy to learn since it has a simple syntax that makes it suitable for learning programming as a first language. During the process of learning Python, the students learnt advanced coding using Operators, Algorithm, Flowchart and conditional statements. They learnt about the installation process, features, working modes and data types of the Python language. They realised that any task they perform in their daily routine consists of three steps – Input, Processing and Output. They found it interesting and interactively grabbed the concept well. Keeping the Bloom’s taxonomy in mind, the educator was successfully able to make the students APPLY the use of tenses and help them IDENTIFY the tenses in their day to day conversation. All the uses of – “ be, being and been” and rules to follow while changing a sentence from one tense to another were discussed with the help of a PPT followed by the discussion of workbook exercises. The students were given an enrichment exercise and a class test for extra practice. The students were introduced to two chapters in literature- Vikram Seth's poem 'The Louse and the Mosquito' and Leo Tolstoy's prose 'Three Questions'. In writing skills, the students were made aware of how an article was different from a regular paragraph. They discussed the format together. The hints were explained and they were guided how to elaborate on them. The handout for the same was also shared. They also practiced Formal letter writing (Letter to the Editor) as a revision practice for their UT 2. The young enthusiasts participated in CBSE- Veer Gatha Activity in which they expressed their views about the chivalrous gallantry awardees. They were introduced to the topic- To recognize words used in the local news and to narrate an incident on one’s own, using past tense [with être]. New concept of grammar: Direct object pronouns was introduced with examples. The students solved the worksheet related to the topic [short story]. A class test on the topic past tense was held as a revision. The students were also asked to find the meaning for 'expression of feelings' from the textbook. SPANISHAfter the Half Yearly examinations the students learnt how to buy tickets at the cinema, Chapter “Dos entradas por favor”. The verb “Querer” to want was introduced to the class with a video song HA ASH “No te quiero nada” which they thoroughly enjoyed. A video of the famous festival "La tomatina" was enjoyed by the students at the introducution of the chapter: “Es genial”. A pair activity was done where the students described an event in present tense. In the chapter: “¿Qué hiciste el sábado?” the class recapitulated Preterite tense describing an event in the past. The students were introduced to past tense. They attempted to make small sentences in past tense explaining activities done on weekends in the class and write an email in their notebooks. The learners actively participated in the discussion conducted in the class and solved live worksheets given as home assignments. PHYSCIAL EDUCATIONStudents practised: • Warm-up exercises like on-the-spot jogging, jumping and running. • Agility exercises like modified zig-zag running with cones. Students of grades III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX and X were equally distributed in different sports. Understanding the role of strength & flexibility, technique & fitness, and safety for self & others. Front roll, Back rolls & Side rolls INDIAN DANCEDurga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is an annual Hindu festival originating in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga and is also celebrated because of Durga's victory over Mahishasur. Students learnt to dance to the tunes of Durga Stuti in classical dance style through various mudras, postures and various expressions on the song- Ya devi sarvabhuteshu. WESTERN DANCE"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a centain place on the floor; it's to enjoy each step along the way." The session began with a new dance style- Dandiya on 'Moti Veerana' song imbibing the spirit of love and devotion and giving them a basic importance and significance of Navaratri. We used freestyle body movements along with hand gestures and rhythmic foot movements to create a new choreography. They were also taught the basic levels of body like plie and releve. It is a good exercise for mind and body coordination, it also improves the body posture. INDIAN MUSICसितम्बर माह में छात्र छात्राओं द्वारा की गई गतिविधिया: गायन अभ्यास: शुद्ध स्वर अलंकार राग, गीत - इतनी शक्ति , हमको मन की शक्ति , दुर्गे दुर्गे नवरात्री गीत प्रयोग हुए वाद्य: तानपूरा, ऑडियो ट्रैक गायन तकनीक: गायन के अभ्यास की बुनियादी तकनीक, प्रतियोगिता में प्रस्तुति के महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु WESTERN MUSICAs an introduction to the Western Classical era, students were exposed to some famous composers such as Lud Van Beethoven, Igor Stravinsky and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and their respective work. Ear training and harmonic exercises of Western Solfage were done introducing the pentatonic scale along with the major and minor and melodic minor notes. DRAMAStudents were engaged in all forms of physical activities to ensure coordination and physical agililty such as The Human Knot in which children stood holding each others' hands and tried to stand up without untangling the locked arms. The importance of expression and being in character was also imparted trough the Find The Murderer activity.
Students learnt how to coordinate and function as a cohesive group through the Random Alphabet exercise. They were also taught about characterisation and given the task of coming up with 5 characters with unique character traits and quirks.
